This has become a standard pattern, and was originally created by the great Pat Dorsey's son, Forest Dorsey. This pattern features a thread body, ultra wire ribbing, a glass bead, and a Glamour Madeira wing case with a peacock herl thorax. An excellent imitation of an emerging midge pupa. Midges hatch year round, so there should be every stage of the midge life-cycle in your box in a variety of sizes/colors. Try larger sizes (#18) in the spring and summer and smaller (#20-#22) in the fall/winter. This works great as your first fly in the colder months with a midge pupa underneath.
