A searching pattern that is an upgraded version of Walt's Worm - a very popular fly in many variants on the competitive fly fishing scene. It's a simple fly with some flashy tinsel and a hot spot to trigger serious strikes. I counter-wrap the tinsel with tippet material to help with durability.
I tie this on a 1x short, barbless wide-gape jig hook for a fly that will increase hook-ups and ride point up to significantly reduce snags. These hooks also reduce stress on fish as they are significantly easier to remove.
Natural hare color will have a fluorescent pink hotspot, olive will have a fluorescent chartreuse hotspot.
