This foam-body caddis is more buoyant, however, rides lower than a traditional elk hair. The hackle on this fly is much more sparse and the brown hackle on the traditional fly is replaced with just a bit of grizzly hackle, for a more realistic amount of legs.
This fly can hold its own in faster currents or on calm surfaces with picky trout. Tightly wrapped foam forms a realistic floating silhouette with subtle ribbing. I can tie this in sizes #10-#18 on barbed, bronze, down eye dry fly hooks.
